More About SOS
Who runs the show
Wendy Hutton and Lawrence Grove are the proprietors and have 30 years experience between them of Fostering and looking after care leavers. Both have NVQ Health and Social care level 5. In addition, Wendy is a Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and volunteers as a Samaritan.
We set up Stepping out support in 2006, specialising in therapeutic care in an empathetic way. We are flexible and experienced with working with extreme behaviours. We tailor our care to each individual’s needs, working closely with social services.

We have two staff, both of whom have experienced being in Foster care and supported housing. We are proud to say that they are shining examples of how to handle and overcome adversity. They are Empathetic to the situation of the Young people whilst having a realistic outlook of how best to support them, helping them overcome their past and taking their first steps into independence. They have NVQ Health and Social care level 3 and both have many years experience of working with Young people in Supported housing and Youth offenders.

We have 2 places of residence that house 3 people each, they are situated in central Strood, very close to the town where there are many shops and supermarkets. There is a train station within 5 minute walk and the local buses run regularly. The central location makes getting around easy for young people. The local colleges and universities are on the bus route which is a 2 minutes walk from the houses; as is a youth centre, sports centre and a gym. Medway towns offers many alternatives to mainstream learning, such as princes trust, fairbridge and nacro.
